What an incredible tournament season we had! Truly blessed to have played 13 successful tournaments in some of the most challenging courses in Ocean and Monmouth counties. The final game - Club Championship Game #2 was played on Saturday at Eagle Ridge. It decided the winners of FAGOC's most prestigious awards including the 2025 Club Champion as well as the FedEx Champion. 

 

For the Club Championship, leading into the final game based on the result of game #1 were Dada "Da Great" Alberto (71) and Wirt Villanueva (73).  And for the FedEx Championship (based on the total awarded points for all games), the contenders were Wirt Villanueva (660.5), Nestor Espiritu (531.5), Jovito Pelias (526.3), Dada Alberto (441.3), and Lito "The Queen B" Trasmonte (429).

The final game result was nothing short of amazing coz it was the amazing and truly impressive players who won. Adonis Buelo who has the lowest HI (11) won Class A. Winning a tournament in FAGOC is not easy and that's an understatement (well, unless your name is Wirt or Nestor). Having the lowest HI in the tournament, Adonis had the slimmest margin of error in order to win. The competition was tight but Adonis could not be denied a win this season. Claiming his first win as he saved the best for last, Adonis is truly an amazing champion. Congratulations, Champ Adonis!

In Class B, another impressive player prevailed and that's Nestor Espiritu. Contending for every tournament this season, Nestor succeeded not once nor twice but a total of 6 times including win of one of the most prestigious awards. In addition, he also secured the Match Play contest by going unbeatable in 6 match games. The only other player with similar dominance was Wirt Villanueva who had a total of 5 wins. With Nestor's 5th win of the season, he was able to take the lead from Wirt and won the 2025 FedEx Champion title. What an amazing season Nestor had!  Congratulations, Champ Ka Nestor!

 

And for the most prestigious honor and title, FAGOC's 2025 Club Champion, claiming the win was no other than my idol, Da great player.  Dada "Da Great" Alberto that is. The name speaks for itself and there's a reason why he is Da Great. Brilliant game in the Club Championship game #1 and coming in 2nd to Adonis in game #2, Dada prevailed and is most deserving of the Club Championship title for 2025.  Dang Da, congratulations to you!

That concludes our 2025 Tournament season and FAGOC could not thank enough all of its fabulous members for making it another big success. This would not have been possible without the tremendous support and sacrifices from the members. FAGOC thanks especially the officers: El President Elmer for running this club like a well-oiled machine. Elmer's love for and dedication to this club is unmatched. We are blessed to have him as our El Presidente. He is supported by incredible and selfless members in Jojo Valerio (taking care of operations), Rico Gonzales (managing HI), Hazen "Pareng Dong" Yu (managing financials), Rene Tuballa (managing tour pairings and matches), Adonis Buelo (managing tour scoring/scrolf), and Chuck Scudder (managing tour payments). We also thank the media guys in Raul Camposagrado and Hector Layson - for the outstanding coverage of every tournament.  And last but certainly not least, thank you to all the members for the boundless inspirations, the fierce but friendly competitions and most of all, the strongest camaraderie. 

 

What is next is our Awards Night at Clarion Hotel in Toms River on Saturday, October 25.  More than the awarding of trophies, we will be celebrating you, the FAGOC members. Time to celebrate the success and how this club has grown stronger every year.
