Members,

What a Masters tournament we had. Thank you for making it another tightly contested game. Players came with sense of seriousness, sense of urgency and a tunnel vision of capturing one of FAGOC's majors, the prestigious and coveted Masters Champion title. The results did not disappoint as it became an epic battle between two players, Dr. Chuck Scudder and Rommel Tamayo.

Playing in the first group, Chuck dictated not only the pace of the game but also the scoring as he masterfully owned the front-9, carding a minus 5 (30) net score. But Rommel, playing in the 5th group, kept pace with Chuck and incredibly matching Chuck's score in the front-9.  While not exactly "mano a mano" as they were in different groups, both Chuck and Rommel ended up with exactly the same final net score of 66 (30,36). Brilliant rounds for Chuck and Rommel in leading the tournament tied at 66 net. Breaking the tie to decide the winner of the Masters Tournament, we used the results of their last 6 holes. And Rommel prevailed with net score of 22 compared to Chuck's 26.

Congratulations to Rommel Tamayo, FAGOC's 2026 Masters Tournament Champion!

What a timely way to break through and win his first victory of the season. Rommel came close to winning in two previous tournaments. In Hanover, he lost to Raul Camposagrado in a tie-break. Then, in the last tournament at Bey Lea, he came 2nd to Dada who edged him out by a single stroke (66 to 67). This time, his net score of 66 was good enough to match Chuck's final score. And the rest is history. An amazingly well-deserved win for Rommel Tamayo!

The Masters tournament carries double points for FedEx competition. With this win, Rommel catapulted from #10 to now #2 ranking, 2nd only to Dada Da Great.  The top 5 FedEx ranking now stands as follows:

Dada Alberto              = 438.2

Rommel Tamayo      = 420.0

Chuck Scudder          = 412.0

Elmer Sadiang-Abay = 400.5

Dr. Joe Dugenio         = 331.8

Now, that is one tight FedEx leaderboard with mere 37.7 points separating the #1 and #4. That makes it even more exciting for our last two games, Club Championships - Game 1 and 2.

We start with Game 1 Club Championship on Saturday - Sep 12 and followed by Game 2 on Sep 19.  Both games will be played at Eagle Ridge Golf Club in Lakewood, NJ.

Good luck to all!

FORE!
